Cat Nose Colours
General
Catz, unlike dogz who match the genetic base colour, normally have a nose colour that matches the surrounding area. The swatches below provide a range of acceptable colours for each coat colour/pattern - the colour you use does not have to match exactly, but rather fall within the accepted range. Noses must be untextured or use a dedicated nose texture (found in the texture library) - it is not realistic for them to be fur textured. A nose that doesn't match the surrounding area is faulted.

Colourpoint, Mink, Burmese, Smoke, Shaded, and Chinchilla
For these patterns, the nose matches the genetic colour of the base pattern - a red tabby point matches red tabby, a blue mink matches solid blue, etc.
Please note that the base colour for Shaded and Chinchilla is silver/golden tabby, ergo a black cat would have a
nose instead of a
. In silver black and chocolate cats of these patterns, noses may additionally be
. However, it is preferred that they are
.
Tortie/Torbie
The nose can match either of the base colours, or be a combination of the two.
White Spotted Cats
If the muzzle area surrounding the nose is white, the nose may be fully or partially
. The exception is when the muzzle is white, not as white spotting but representing another type of marking, such as white muzzle light markings in tabbies, which should still follow their above listed nose colour.
In white spotted catz, the nose can match the main coat without fault even if the whole muzzle is white.
Etched Noses
In addition to the nose colours allowed above, any cat with the tabby gene (e.g. Tabby, Torbie, any tabby-points, Shaded, Chinchilla) can have a pink or pinkish nose etched with the pigment colour suitable for that cat's pigment (e.g. Black tabbies and black silver shadeds would have black etching).
PALETTES
For petz that use palettes, it is up to your own discretion to use colours that are appropriate and that satisfy the standard. The swatches above serve to provide guidance on what colours are realistic and acceptable to use.
